Terms of Use
Last updated 10 September 2026.
These terms govern your use of tokyotourism.org. Reading the site means you accept them. They are written to be understood rather than to be impressive.
What this site is
Tokyo Tourism Guide publishes editorial guides to visiting Tokyo. It is not a travel agency, tour operator, ticket reseller or booking intermediary, and it is not regulated as any of those things. It holds no client money, arranges nothing on your behalf and enters into no contract with you for travel services. Anything you book, you book directly with the museum, hotel, restaurant or carrier concerned, on their terms, and any dispute is between you and them.
Accuracy, and the limits of it
Guides are researched against primary sources and revised when we learn something has changed, but Tokyo does not send notifications. Museums shift opening hours and closing days. Admission prices and rail fares are revised. Restaurants move, close, or stop taking walk-ins. Timed-entry systems change their release schedules. Cherry blossom and autumn foliage arrive on their own timetable, a fortnight either side of the average. Golden Week, Obon and the New Year period alter what is open, how full the trains are and what a room costs. Typhoon season can close a rail line or an observation deck at a few hours’ notice.
So: treat every time, price and opening day here as a starting point and confirm it with the operator before you rely on it, particularly if you are travelling a long way for one thing or planning around a timed entry. Where an official source exists, we link to it precisely so you can do that. The content is provided as it stands, without warranty that it is complete, current or fit for any particular trip.
Not professional advice
Nothing here is legal, medical, financial or immigration advice. Guides that touch on visas and entry requirements, travel insurance, pharmacies and emergency healthcare, or customs and tax-free shopping are written for general orientation only. Entry rules depend on your nationality and your circumstances and change without warning; check with the Japanese authorities, an embassy or consulate, or your own government’s travel advice. Insurance guidance is a description of how cover generally works, not a recommendation of any policy or insurer.
Recommendations and mentions
When a hotel, restaurant, shop or museum is named in a guide, it is named on editorial judgement. No business has paid for a mention and there is no arrangement under which coverage can be bought. Some booking links do earn a commission, which is set out in the next section; that commission is paid by the booking platform after the fact and has no bearing on which places are named here. A mention is an opinion about what is worth your time, not a guarantee about what you will experience on the day.
Affiliate links
Some links on this site are affiliate links, including accommodation and activity links served through Stay22. If you book after following one, Tokyo Tourism Guide receives a commission from the booking provider. You pay no more than you would going direct, and a commission never buys coverage, a recommendation or a position in a ranking.
It also does not change what this site is. Tokyo Tourism Guide still takes no bookings, holds no money and is not an intermediary: your contract remains with the hotel, museum or carrier, on their terms, and a commission paid to us afterwards gives us no standing in it and no ability to intervene if something goes wrong.
The affiliate disclosure sets all of this out in one place, including which links are paid and how the tracking is added.
Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Tokyo Tourism Guide is not liable for any loss arising from your use of this site or from reliance on anything published here — including a missed timed entry, a museum found closed, a fare or fee incurred, or a booking made on the strength of something you read. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud, where that limitation would be unlawful.
Copyright and reuse
The text of these guides is our copyright. You are welcome to quote a short passage with clear attribution and a link to the page it came from. Reproducing a guide in whole or in substantial part, republishing it elsewhere, or using it to train a commercial model is not permitted without written permission — ask through the contact page.
Photography on this site is largely sourced from Wikimedia Commons and remains the property of the photographers credited, under the free licences they chose — typically Creative Commons, which carry their own attribution and share-alike conditions. Permission from us to reuse our text does not extend to those images: if you want to reuse a photograph, take it from Commons and follow its licence. Artworks, installations and buildings depicted may carry their own image rights. Trade marks and institution names appear for identification only and imply no affiliation.
External links
Guides link to official operator websites so you can verify what we have published. We do not control those sites, are not responsible for their content or their availability, and a link is not an endorsement of anything they sell.
Acceptable use
Do not attempt to disrupt the site, scrape it at a volume that degrades it for other readers, or use the contact form to send unsolicited commercial messages. Comments are closed, so there is no user-generated content on this site. We may block access where use falls outside this.
Changes
These terms may be revised; the date at the top shows when they last were, and continuing to use the site after a change means accepting the revised version. Tokyo Tourism Guide is published from the United States. Nothing in these terms takes away any protection you have under the mandatory consumer law of the country where you live.
